Monitoring vs. inspection:

Facility managers at a brewery were perplexed to find CUI on an insulated steam pipe. Operating conditions kept the steam temperature above 130°C, allowing moisture to evaporate — not the optimal environment for corrosion under insulation.
Regular inspections had revealed no cause for corrosion. Once the iSensPro monitoring system started monitoring continuously for the presence of moisture, in and under the insulation, the reason was revealed: conditions changed during off-line weekend times. No steam was consumed, thus the pipe temperature decreased enough to induce condensation under the insulation. Continuous iSensPro monitoring reveals information that intermittent inspection can easily miss!
